FAQs

Q. I have a coin already made and need more, but my supplier has raised the per unit cost on me. Is there anything you can do to help me out?

A. We can re-mint the coin for you, But you would have to pay for a new mold of your coin to be made by us. if your supplier has gone out of business, Or if they have raised the price on the per unit cost. We can re-mint the coin, No problem. We can use your old artwork or some hi-res pictures of the coin.

Q. What is the difference between a zinc alloy centered coin, And a brass centered coin?

A. Some cut out or odd shaped coins need to be zinc alloy based coins, Due to the areas of the coin that are left after areas are cut out. Zinc alloy tends to break down in extreme heat, And weights less. A regular round or non cut out coin should never be zinc alloy based. The buyer should always ask the company if the coin is going to be brass or zinc alloy based. Some companies sell zinc alloy coins to boost profit on a sale, Without ever telling the buyer. Milcoins.com is not one of these companies. Our goal is to produce high quality coins.

Q. How close is the artwork going to be to the actual coin?

A. Every mold is made by an artist, By hand. There will always be a 99% likeness between the artwork and the coin once it is produced. We work with great factories that have been in the business for years and years. They wouldn't have lasted as long as they have if there artists cut molds unlike the artwork.

Q. Other sites offer free mold fees, Why don't you?

A. Nothing is for free, If you look at the bottom line you will see a huge difference in per unit cost. Let's say you go to another challenge coin website, And they give you a free mold. So now you have 100 coins that you paid a total of $700. That comes out to $7.00 per coin. When you go to re-order your coin, You will be paying that same $7.00 per coin. It's like paying for the mold again and again. Our mold fees are 1 time fees. you pay it and then its out of the equation, On every re-order of that coin.

Q. I have received many quotes, How can you mint custom coins for so much less than everyone else?

A. My answer to this question is Low Overhead. No sales people, I own and operate milcoins.com by myself. Some websites boast about having a store front. Who do you think pays the rent on those store fronts? The buyers do! I keep it simple so I can pass the savings on to you. Many of the other websites even use the same mints as I do. Try us once and you will keep coming back.

Q. Where do these coins come from?

A. We work with 2 overseas mints, Depending on what you custom coin order demands are, Is where your coin will be minted. We have faith in both of our partner factories, We do not get quotes from both and go with the cheapest. We know both of our partner factories strengths and weaknesses, So depending on what your custom coin design is like, Is where the coin ends up being produced.

Q. I want my custom coins to be made in the U.S.A. do you offer that?

A. We support all ideas of products that are made in the U.S.A. Unfortunately we do not offer coins that are made in the U.S.A. They would simply cost way to much ! I once had a customer not mint his unit coins with me because they weren't made in the U.S.A. and that was fine. He wanted to about 3X more for his order, To support our economy. Lets just hope whom ever supplied his order really did have them minted here in the states.

Q.  Profit Sharing Market , What does that mean?

A. Every coin minted by Milcoins.com is an authentic and created by someone in the U.S. military unit that carries it. We like to support our troops, So when a coin is purchased in our Profit Sharing Market, A percentage of that sale is put into an account with that unit in which it was created for. They in turn will use that credit to either make re-orders, or even mint their next unit coin.

Q. How many colors of paint are included on your price guide?

A. Up to 6 different colors per side are included in the price.

Q. Can you mail me a sample of my coin?

A. Hard samples of your custom coin can be mailed at your expense.
